Madi Reynik
MSW, LCSWA
(she/her)
Madi Reynik, MSW, LCSWA, is a Licensed Clinical Social Work Associate who earned both her Master’s and Bachelor’s in Social Work at Appalachian State University. Madi is currently accruing hours towards her full licensure.
Madi’s professional background includes working at a domestic violence facility, where she provided crisis intervention and ongoing support for survivors of IPV, DV, and/or SV. Madi has also worked as a Behavior Technician, providing therapy to children on the autism spectrum. She co-facilitated an expressive arts support group for high-risk populations and has led a number of interactive workshops on healthy relationships, boundaries and consent.
Madi is passionate about working with populations that are underserved when it comes to sexual health and wellness. She has experience working with people from a wide range of backgrounds, including the ASD/IDD/Neurodiverse population and LGBTQ+ folks, and is comfortable with both adolescent and adult clients.
Madi sees clients in our Durham office and via telehealth. She accepts most BCBS, Cigna, and Aetna plans, and also sees clients who would like to use out of network benefits or self-pay.
“Discussions about sex have long been considered taboo. When we avoid these essential conversations, we allow negative stigmas to persist and grow. Instead of shying away from difficult and vulnerable topics, I believe we should engage in them more openly, leaning on our communities and personal relationships to work together to break down these stigmas, which will foster easier access to the education and resources needed for sexual health and wellness.”

Work Philosophy
Madi incorporates various therapy approaches in her work with clients, but her favorites are structural family theory, systems theory, client-centered therapy, strengths-based therapy, person-in-environment theory, and narrative therapy. She believes in taking a strengths-based approach that incorporates motivational interviewing to uplift and encourage clients to work at a comfortable pace.
Madi feels therapy should be a safe place for clients to feel seen, heard, and encouraged, and to freely discuss what they wish. She strives to offer a trusting and comfortable environment where she guides clients rather than providing them with answers.
Personal Interests
In her free time, Madi enjoys spending time with friends, family, and her cat, Ms. Bean. She also likes to color, paint, embroider, write, and read nonfiction books.
Madi appreciates spending time in nature, practicing meditation and introspection and also enjoys going for scenic drives while listening to her favorite music.
