“Sex and sexuality are often ignored in general therapy, but really shouldn’t be. Sex is often when we’re at our most vulnerable; it’s such a window into our authentic selves– ignoring sex in therapy is missing a big piece of the puzzle. Sex therapy closes that gap, allowing for truly holistic therapeutic work.”

Work Philosophy
Katelyn works to promote an empathic, collaborative, and judgement-free therapeutic space. She is passionate about sexual health and wellness and believes that promoting open discussion of sexuality and sexual matters is imperative in mental health treatment and in fighting the societal stigma surrounding sex. Katelyn works from a person-in-environment framework — working with her clients to use evidence-based therapeutic interventions in concert with consideration of social, personal, and environmental factors that impact a person’s mental and sexual health. Katelyn views the client as the “expert in their own lives” and seeks to foster connection and collaboration in the therapy room. She encourages feedback, questions, and transparency with her clients as they work together.
Katelyn recognizes the role of sex and sexuality in mental health and general functioning and finds focusing on sexual matters in therapy can help to address many intricately connected client concerns regarding mental and relational health. She honors the vulnerability required in discussing sex and sexuality and holds a nonjudgmental, unconditional positive regard with her clients as she meets them where they are in order to address sexual, relational, and mental health concerns.
Katelyn has additional training and experience treating interpersonal trauma, especially sexual trauma, and provides empathic, patient, empowering, and judgement-free care to those who have experienced sexual trauma, including those navigating sex following trauma. Katelyn believes education functions as the axis on which the world spins, and often uses psychoeducation in her work with clients, as well as frequently brings new ideas from current research on sex and mental health to the therapy room.
Katelyn works from a trauma-informed cognitive behavioral framework. She has formal training in evidence-based practices including general cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, cognitive processing therapy, and interpersonal psychotherapy.
