Kayla Williamson, MSW, LCSWA, is a Licensed Clinical Social Work Associate who earned her Master’s in Social Work from North Carolina Central University and her Bachelor’s in Social Work with a minor in Gender Studies at Mars Hill University. Kayla is currently accruing hours towards her full licensure.
Kayla has experience working with clients facing a diverse range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, and trauma. Her professional background includes working at a mental health rehabilitation center that specializes in youth services, where she received thorough training in therapeutic crisis intervention. During this period, Kayla engaged with clients navigating issues related to gender identity and sexuality, fostering an environment that encouraged positive self-expression and supported individuals in exploring their identities without fear of judgment or criticism. Her dedication to creating a safe, affirming space has been instrumental in helping clients achieve personal growth and emotional resilience.
As an undergraduate, Kayla was actively involved in the LGBTQ+ Alliance, where she demonstrated a strong commitment to fostering inclusivity and promoting awareness and played a significant role in organizing and hosting various events and informational sessions designed to create welcoming spaces for the LGBTQ+ community and to educate the broader campus.
Kayla sees clients in our Durham offices and via telehealth. She accepts most BCBS, Cigna, and Aetna plans and can also see clients who would like to use out of network benefits and private/self pay clients.

Work Philosophy
Kayla believes that therapy should be a place where clients feel accepted and valued without fear of criticism or judgment and offers a compassionate and supportive environment for those exploring or dealing with sexual issues, whether related to pleasure, trauma, or health concerns. Sexual expression is a normal and healthy part of human experience and Kayla strives to support individuals in making empowered decisions about their own bodies and sexual lives, working collaboratively to brainstorm solutions and interventions to help reach their goals.
Kayla works from a client centered approach, believing you are the key expert in understanding your own experiences and needs. She integrates Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Mindfulness-Based Therapy to offer a comprehensive approach that addresses various aspects of sexual health and well-being. Kayla views therapy as a collaborative process, partnering with clients to explore effective strategies and interventions that support their goals. She actively invites client feedback and questions, fostering an open and engaging dialogue that respects and enhances the collaborative nature of the therapeutic experience.
Personal Interests
Outside of work, Kayla enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoys going to arcades, listening to crime podcasts, and watching reality tv.
